Toronto Maple Leafs F Max Domi has been ruled out indefinitely following complications arising from an off-season surgery, the team announced Monday.

The team did not disclose the nature of the surgery Monday, stating it was done to address an issue he played through during the 2025-26 season.

“Domi will continue working with the club’s medical staff and will be re-evaluated at the start of training camp,” the Maple Leafs said.

The 31-year-old forward had 12 goals and 36 points in 80 games with the Maple Leafs this past season. He was minus-29 on the year, which was the second-worst mark on the team behind only winger Matthew Knies.

The 5-foot-10 centre is entering the third season of a four-year, $15 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $3.75 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

Drafted 12th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2013, Domi has 150 goals and 486 points in 815 career games split between the Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, and Maple Leafs.
