Hutson, 24, made his NHL debut with the Oilers a season ago after he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Boston University.
The native of North Barrington, Ill. has appeared in six NHL games over the past two seasons, with his lone goal coming on Dec. 18 against the Boston Bruins.
In 30 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL this season, Hutson has 23 goals and 38 points.
After a slow start to the season, the Oilers have risen to second in the Pacific Division at 22-16-7. They will look to bounce back from a 4-3 loss in the shootout to the Los Angeles Kings over the weekend when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
