The Edmonton Oilers have acquired Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional first-round pick in 2027, the team announced.
The Blackhawks will retain 50 per cent of Dickinson’s expiring $4.25 million cap hit in the deal.
The Oilers had been looking to move Mangiapane for months and placed the winger on waivers earlier this week. He is signed through next season at a cap hit of $3.6 million on a two-year deal inked in free agency last summer.

Dickinson, 30, has six goals and 13 points in 43 games with the Blackhawks this season.
The 6-foot-2 centre is on the final season of a two-year, $8.5 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4.25 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Drafted 29th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2013, Dickinson has 74 goals and 168 points in 541 career games split between the Stars, Vancouver Canucks, and Blackhawks.
His best offensive season came during the 2023-24 campaign where he registered 22 goals and 35 points in 82 games with the Blackhawks.
Dach, 23, has three goals and nine points in 53 games this season.
Mangiapane, 29, has seven goals and seven assists in 52 games with the Oilers this season.
Sharks get Oilers’ 2026 first-rounder
As a result of trading the 2027 first round pick, the 2026 first rounder the Oilers sent to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Jake Walman last season becomes unprotected, TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports.

It had previously been top-12 protected, unless Edmonton moved its 2027 1st, which is now going to Chicago (top-12 protected) in the Jason Dickinson deal.
Walman had one goal and eight points in 15 games upon joining the Oilers last season, adding two goals and 10 points in the playoffs as the team reached the Stanley Cup Final.
He inked an seven-year, $49 million contract extension with the Oilers earlier this season and has eight goals and 18 points through 33 games.
