Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond left Monday’s game with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second period with an upper-body injury.

The team announced that he would not return to the contest just before the start of the third period.

Raymond, 23, was injured halfway through the second when he was hammered into the boards by Maple Leafs defenceman Chris Tanev.

The 5-foot-11 winger skated 7:58 and recorded an assist, exiting with the Red Wings leading 1-0. Detroit ended up taking a 3-2 win on Monday, sweeping the home-and-home series against the Maple Leafs.

Raymond registered 27 goals and 80 points in 82 games last season and has two goals and three points in three games so far this year.

Drafted fourth overall by the Red Wings in 2020, Raymond has 100 goals and 257 points in 323 career games.
