Report: Stars F Robertson gets July 25 hearing as arbitration dates set

Published:

Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson headlines a list of restricted free agent players that are heading to arbitration with proceedings reportedly set to begin next week.

According to PuckPedia, Robertson’s hearing has been scheduled for July 25, setting a deadline for the two sides to reach a deal on their own.

The 6-foot-3 winger had 45 goals and 96 points in 82 games last season, leading the Stars to a 50-20-12 record for second place in the Central Division. Robertson’s 96 points led the Stars and scoring and has been either first or second in team scoring each of the last six seasons in Dallas.

Robertson, 26, added five goals and eight points in six playoff games before his team was eliminated in the first round.

He is coming off a four-year, $31 million contract that carried an annual cap hit of $7.75 million. Robertson is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 campaign if not signed to a long-term deal.

The Stars and Robertson have been trying to negotiate a long-term deal throughout the off-season but have been unable to come to terms. Dallas attempted to come to a sign-and-trade agreement with the Seattle Kraken in late June, but Robertson reportedly rejected an eight-year contract worth $15 million per season, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Drafted 29th overall by the Stars in 2017, Robertson has 213 goals and 490 points in 456 career games in his seven-season career.

Also seeking arbitration are a pair of core pieces on the Philadelphia Flyers in forward Trevor Zegras and defenceman Jamie Drysdale.

Zegras, 25, played his first season last year after he was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Ryan Poehling and two draft picks in June of 2025.

He finished second in team scoring with 26 goals and 67 points in 81 games, leading the Flyers to their first playoff appearance since six seasons.

The 6-foot centre added two goals and six points in 10 playoff games before his team was eliminated in the second round.

Zegras’ arbitration date is set for July 22.

Drysdale, 24, is one of the first players to have his arbitration hearing to be completed with his date set for July 20.

The 5-foot-11, right-shot blueliner recorded eight goals and 32 points in 78 games with the Flyers last season while averaging 21:33 of ice time.

He added two goals and four points in 10 playoff games while averaging 22:11 of ice time before the Flyers were eliminated.

There are two players on Canadian team seeking arbitration in forward Cole Perfetti of the Winnipeg Jets and Kirby Dach of the Montreal Canadiens.

Perfetti’s scheduled arbitration hearing is also set for July 20 while Dach’s is set for July 30.

Robertson’s younger brother Nick Robertson received a hearing date of July 28 with his new team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, after being traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1.
