Michael McCarron is staying with the Minnesota Wild.
The veteran centre signed a six-year deal carrying an average annual value of $3.3 million on Tuesday, the team announced.
McCarron returns for another year after he was acquired at the trade deadline by Minnesota in a deal with the Nashville Predators. The 31-year-old spent the season playing out the last of a two-year, $1.8 million deal.
In 79 games combined with Minnesota and Nashville, the ninth-year player scored eight goals and totaled 17 points.
McCarron also added two goals and four points in 11 games with the Wild in the postseason.
A former first-round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens, McCarron has 36 goals and 79 points in 381 career NHL games with the Canadiens, Predators and Wild.
