Sabres sign RFA Krebs to four-year, $18M contract, avoiding arbitration

Published:

The Buffalo Sabres have signed restricted free agent forward Peyton Krebs to a four-year, $18 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4.5 million.

The 25-year-old filed for arbitration earlier this month and had his hearing set for August 1, per PuckPedia, the final day of hearings.

Krebs recorded 12 goals and 39 points in 82 games with the Sabres last season as his team returned to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.

He added two goals and six points in 13 playoff games before the Sabres were eliminated in the second round.

The 6-foot centre is coming off a two-year, $2.9 million contract that carried a cap hit of $1.45 million.

Drafted 17th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2019, Krebs has 42 goals and 133 points in 378 career games split between the Golden Knights and Sabres.

The signing takes care of the final piece of business for the Sabres with their restricted free agents this summer. Buffalo has less than $2 million remaining in cap space with their roster seemingly set for 2026-27.
