The Ottawa Senators have added defenceman Ben Hutton to their training camp roster on a professional tryout contract.
Hutton, 33, appeared in 55 games with the Vegas Golden Knights last season, posting six goals and 15 points. He added one assist in seven playoff games.
He spent last season playing out the last of two-year, $1.95 million deal with the Golden Knights.
A fifth-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2012, Hutton has 30 goals and 109 points in 575 career games with Vancouver, the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Golden Knights.
The addition of Hutton comes after the Senators announced that blueliner Artem Zub and forward Warren Foegele will not be ready to start camp with the team.
The concern for both players appears limited, though, as head coach Travis Green noted they are expected to return at some point over the next two weeks.
Zub, 30, is dealing with a lower-body injury that kept the blue liner on the sidelines for the final three games of Ottawa’s first-round sweep at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes in April.
The 30-year-old Foegele is battling an undisclosed injury to begin training camp.
He was held off the scoresheet in each of Ottawa’s four Stanley Cup Playoff games this spring, but did net six goals and two assists after being acquired by the team from the Los Angeles Kings ahead of the deadline.
