San Jose Sharks forward prospect Michael Misa has officially joined Canada’s national junior team training camp.

The 18-year-old centre will not be in the lineup for Canada’s first pre-competition game against Sweden in Kitchener on Wednesday.

You can watch Canada take on Sweden at 7pm ET/4pm PT on TSN1/4 and streaming on TSN.ca or the TSN App.

Selected second overall by the Sharks in last summer’s NHL Draft, Misa hasn’t played in the NHL since Nov. 1 due to an undisclosed injury, but appears ready to suit up for Team Canada at the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship, set to take place in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.

Misa recorded one assist over a recent two-game conditioning stint with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.

The Oakville, Ont., native had one goal and two assists over seven games with the Sharks in October before going down with his injury.

Misa scored an impressive 62 goals and 72 assists over 65 games with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit last season.

He last represented Canada at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he registered two goals and eight points to take home a gold medal.
