The Dallas Stars have re-signed captain Jamie Benn to a one-year contract on Friday worth up to $2 million.
The deal pays Benn a base salary of $850,000 with up to $1.15 million in performance bonuses, including earning $200,000 at the 10, 20 and 40 games played mark, $150,000 if the Stars make the playoffs and an additional $100,000 for each round Dallas wins.
Benn, 36, registered 14 goals and 36 points in 60 games with Dallas Stars last season. He did not record a point in six playoff games before the Stars were eliminated in the first round.
The 6-foot-3 winger is coming off a one-year, $1 million contract.
Drafted 129th overall by the Stars in 2007, Benn is second all-time in Stars history with 414 goals and 992 points in 1,252 career games. He is also third in team history with 578 assists.
Benn has captained the Stars for 13 seasons and helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020 and three straight Western Conference Finals in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The two-time, first-team all-star won the Art Ross Trophy in 2015, leading the league with 35 goals and 87 points.
The Victoria, B.C., native represented Canada at The Olympic Games in 2014, winning a gold medal. He also represented his country at the 2012 World Hockey Championship in a fifth-place finish.
