Defenceman Jonas Brodin is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury, head coach John Hynes told reporters Thursday via The Athletic’s Michael Russo.

Brodin was named to Team Sweden’s Olympic roster and Hynes did not go as far as to say his Olympic participation was in jeopardy. However, play begins in less than one month, giving Brodin a short window to return in time.

The 32-year-old played 18:24 in the Wild’s 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils Monday night, collecting an assist and two shots on goal over 21 shifts. He was not on the ice for Minnesota’s session Thursday morning.

Hynes said Brodin is dealing with a nagging injury that had been building up.

He has three goals and 15 points in 42 games so far this season while averaging 21:20 of ice time a night.

Meanwhile, forward Joel Eriksson Ek has missed the Wild’s previous two games with a lower-body ailment and was on the ice prior to the team’s session Thursday. He will not play tonight against the Winnipeg Jets, according to The Athletic’s Joe Smith.

Eriksson Ek was also named to Team Sweden for the Olympics and has 11 goals and 32 points in 45 games so far this season.

The Wild enter play Thursday 26-12-9 for 61 points in 47 games, good for third place in the Central Division.
