Wild re-sign Nick Foligno to one-year, $900,000 contract

The Minnesota Wild have re-signed veteran forward Nick Foligno to a one-year, $900,000 contract on Thursday.

Foligno, 38, finished last season with the Wild after he was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations at the trade deadline.

He had four goals and 15 points in 54 games split between the Blackhawks and Wild after missing the first 22 games of the season with a hand injury.

Foligno added two goals and three points in 11 playoff games as the Wild were eliminated in the second round.

The 6-foot winger is coming off a two-year, $9 million contract that carried a cap hit of $4.5 million and was an unrestricted free agent.

Drafted 28th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2006, Foligno has 251 goals and 612 points in 1,287 career games split between the Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Blackhawks, and Wild.

His best season came during the 2014-15 season where he recorded 31 goals and 73 points in 79 games as a member of the Blue Jackets.

Foligno won the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2017 as captain of the Blue Jackets and was named the 36th captain of the Blackhawks prior to the 2024-25 campaign.
