Artturi Lehkonen scored in overtime as Finland completed a stunning comeback to defeat Switzerland in their quarter-final matchup at Milano Cortina 2026.
Finland cored twice in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 after going down 2-0 in the first period.
Sebastian Aho scored for Finland with just over six minutes left in the third period to bring his team back within one. Miro Heiskanen scored with a minute and 12 seconds left to tie the game.
The Swiss scored each of their goals in the first period, just 1:12 apart from one another and have held the lead since.
Damien Liat, captain of Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League, scored the opener halfway through the first followed by Winnipeg Jets forward Nino Niederreiter.
Leonardo Genoni of HC Zug was in net for Switzerland while Nashville Predators netminder Juuse Saros was between the pipes for Finland.
The fourth-seeded Finns will face Canada in the semifinals unless Sweden can upset Team USA, in which case Finland will play Slovakia.
