OTTAWA — Christopher Morales Williams charged through wet and rainy conditions to capture his fourth straight national title in the men’s 400 metres Friday at the Canadian track and field championships.
Morales Williams clocked a time of 45.58 seconds amid a downpour in the nation’s capital, comfortably beating Felimon Henok (46.82) and Kobi Warden (47.81).
The 21-year-old Morales Williams from Vaughan, Ont., represented Canada at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 and won the world indoors title back in March.
Earlier on Friday, Ottawa’s Lauren Gale won her first national title in the women’s 400, setting a time of 51.94 seconds. Dianna Proctor finished second and Jasneet Nijjar placed third.
Competition continues with the men’s and women’s 100-metre finals Friday night.
Olympic gold medallist Camryn Rogers won her fifth straight national title in the women’s hammer throw on Thursday.
