Canadian midfielder Ismael Kone left Sassuolo’s Serie A match on Saturday against Cagliari due to injury, reports The Athletic’s Joshua Kloke.

The 23-year-old left with the injury in the 68th minute of Saturday’s contest, and further tests will be conducted to reveal the severity of the injury.

TSN’s Matthew Scianitti reports there is not much concern that Kone is dealing with a significant injury.

Following the national team camp and the flight back to Italy, Kone was dealing with fatigue.

Kone has made 28 appearances with the Serie A club this season, recording five goals.

He was in Jesse Marsch’s squad for both of Canada’s recent international friendlies and started the second game on March 31 against Tunisia.

Internationally, Koné has been capped 38 times by Canada since his senior debut in 2022. He has four goals in a Canada shirt, including a goal in the third-place match against Uruguay in the 2024 Copa America.
