Allysha Chapman’s storied Canada career is about to come to a close.
Canada Soccer announced Monday that the 37-year-old left-back will play in her 100th and final international match on Oct. 12 in Toronto against Denmark.
“Allysha has given so much to the Canadian national team and has been an important part of some of the biggest moments in the history of this team,” Canada manager Casey Stoney said in a statement. “Her competitiveness, grit and determination have been such a big part of her career, and reaching 100 caps is a tremendous achievement. It speaks to the level of commitment and consistency it takes to represent your country at the highest level for so many years. She deserves that moment, and I know everyone in the group is looking forward to celebrating her and everything she has given to Canada.”
A native of Courtice, Ont., Chapman made her senior debut in 2014. She went on to feature in three World Cups and two Olympic Games. Chapman was a member of the Canada team that won bronze at Rio 2016 and gold at Tokyo 2020. Chapman has two international goals.
A product of LSU, Chapman is currently in her second stint and in her 10th season with the Houston Dash. She also previously suited up for the North Carolina Courage and Boston Breakers. She began her pro career with three seasons in Sweden with Sirius and Eskilstuna United DFF.
Chapman will become the 24th CanWNT to reach the century of caps mark.
