Is Wolverine about to become a Canary?
Hugh Jackman could be about to take a page out of pal Ryan Reynolds’ book. The Academy Award-nominated actor says he’s interested in purchasing a stake in Championship side Norwich City.
Jackman’s Deadpool and Wolverine co-star, the Vancouver-born Reynolds, is the co-owner of Wrexham, now in its second Championship campaign.
“I’m very, very interested and am talking about it right now,” Jackman told talkSPORT.
A 57-year-old Sydney native, Jackman says he would have no interest in replacing manager Philippe Clement should he come aboard with the Canaries.
“Fantastic,” Jackman said of the French gaffer. “Look at that turnaround. We were the top team in the second half of last year. The season’s just begun. We’re going to get going. I think it’s an exciting team and it’s going to be an exciting year.”
The Canaries have three points from their first four matches this season and currently sit 20th in the table. Toronto-born Canada winger Ali Ahmed is in his second season with the team, but is currently sidelined with a ruptured ACL. Ahmed is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season.
Norwich City is no stranger to celebrity involvement at the club. Actor and comedian Stephen Fry served on the club’s board from 2010 to 2016. The Blackadder star is a lifelong fan of the club.
Already a Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award winner, Jackman needs an Oscar to complete the EGOT.
