Manchester United has its third midfield signing of the summer.
Fabrizio Romano reports the Red Devils are set to sign Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a deal worth £70 million.
The 22-year-old Baleba joins Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans as the club’s newest midfield recruits.
A native of Douala, Baleba picked up an injury during the Seagulls’ preseason and is expected to be out of action until mid-September. United had attempted to sign Baleba last summer, but were rebuffed by Brighton’s £100 million asking price.
Baleba is set to enter his fourth season in England after originally joining Brighton from Lille in 2023. He made 92 appearances in the Premier League for the Seagulls, including 31 last season. Baleba has three league goals.
Internationally, he’s been capped 16 times by the Indomitable Lions since his senior debut in 2024. Baleba appeared at the 2025 African Cup of Nations. He joins Cameroon teammate Bryan Mbeumo with the Red Devils.
Third-place finishers last season, United opens up its new campaign on Saturday with a visit to promoted side Hull City.
