HALIFAX — A defensive duel between the Montreal Roses and Halifax Tides ended in a 0-0 draw on Sunday.
The result came after Montreal lost goalkeeper Anna Karpenko to an apparent lower-body injury in the 23rd minute.
Karpenko came up out of the penalty area to knock a ball down but buckled after the kick and crumpled to the field clutching her right leg.
She was looked at by trainers before being carried off on a stretcher.
Gabrielle Lambert came on in relief and helped the league-leading Roses (11-4-7) stop all four on-target shots they faced across the game.
The Tides (7-10-5) got a crucial point from the draw but still sit one point back of the Vancouver Rise (8-10-3) in the battle for the Northern Super League’s final playoff spot.
