Canada will play its first match of the World Cup against their Pot 4 opponent on June 12 in Toronto. The squad will then relocate to Vancouver for matches on June 18 against Qatar and June 24 against Switzerland, with both of those games at BC Place.

The group winners, runners-up and the eight best third-place teams will all move into the knockout round of the tournament, which begins with a Round of 32 under the new 48-team format.

As the Group B winner, Canada would remain in Vancouver for the Round of 32 and their Round of 16 match, should they advance. A second-place finish in the group would send Canada to Los Angeles while advancing through the third-place path would send Canada to San Francisco or Boston for the Round of 32.

Canada currently sits at No. 27 in the FIFA Rankings, which was the lowest among Pot A teams. The United States entered the draw ranked 14th, with fellow co-hosts Mexico ranked 15th.

Canada since the 2022 World Cup

The 2026 tournament represents another chance for Canada to earn their first-ever points at a World Cup. The country went winless in 1986 and 2022, but have their highest-ever expectations under head coach Jesse Marsch this time around.
