VANCOUVER — Montreal Roses FC remained unbeaten on the road this Northern Super League season with a 4-3 win over Vancouver Rise FC on Wednesday.
Lisa Pechersky, Elyse Bennett, Mimi Alidou and Anne-Valérie Seto scored for Montreal (8-3-3), which has five wins and two draws away from Stade Boréale.
The Roses improved to 4-1 in their last five matches and closed the gap on front-runner AFC Toronto atop the standings.
Maithé López, Anais Oularbi and Latifah Abdu scored for Vancouver (5-8-1), which dropped to 1-4 in its last five games.
Montreal-born players stepped up for the Roses in the second half to resolve a 2-2 halftime deadlock at Swangard Stadium.
Mimi Alidou, who signed with her hometown club in early July, produced the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute when the midfielder fired a left-footed shot into the right corner.
Seto doubled the lead in the 58th minute with a quick right-footer for her first NSL goal.
Second-half substitute Abdu pulled the defending league champion Rise within a goal in the 89th minute with her third of the season, but the hosts couldn’t produce an equalizer in extra time.
López scored her second of the season for the Rise in the third minute when she pounced on a loose ball after a Vancouver corner kick.
Pechersky countered for Montreal in the 14th minute for her first goal against her former team.
The Rise surged again in the 17th when Oularbi right-footed home a cutback pass from Lopez.
But Bennett continued her chase for the league’s golden boot with her eighth of the season to pull the Roses even in the 39th. Bennett got her left leg around on her own rebound in the box.
