Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime is the last Canadian singles player remaining at Roland-Garros and has an opportunity to make even more noise in Paris.
The 25-year-old, who is ranked fourth in the clay court Grand Slam, will take on Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in fourth-round action on Monday.
Auger-Aliassime is coming off a four-set win over American Brandon Nakashima on Saturday in third-round play. He survived Germany’s Daniel Altmaier in a five-set marathon in the opening round before eliminating Roman Andres Burruchaga of Argentina in four sets in the second round.
Auger-Aliassime is 1-0 all-time against Tabilo, who is ranked 36th in the world. The 28-year-old Tabilo had never gotten past the third round at a Grand Slam prior to this year’s Roland-Garros tournament.
A win against Tabilo would give Auger-Aliassime his first quarterfinal berth at Roland-Garros in his career.
Auger-Aliassime was eliminated in the fourth round in each of the 2022 and 2024 tournaments, losing to clay kings Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively.
With two-time defending champion Alcaraz missing the tournament due to a wrist injury and both 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner already eliminated in stunning fashion, the door is open for Auger-Aliassime to make a run in Paris.
A Canadian men’s singles player has never won a tennis Grand Slam while Bianca Andreescu is the lone Canadian women’s to accomplish the feat, doing so at the 2019 US Open.
Auger-Aliassime’s best Grand Slam finish was in 2021 and 2025 when he made the semi-final of the US Open.
Elsewhere, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Brazilian partner Luisa Stefani have a third-round women’s doubles match against Norway’s Ulrikke Eikeri and Quinn Gleason of United States.
You can watch the match Monday morning at approximately 6:30am ET/3:30pm PT on TSN+.
Nadia Lagaev will also be on court in first-round girls’ doubles action at approximately 9:30am ET/6:30am PT.
