The Vancouver Whitecaps and the L.A. Galaxy meet for the third and final time this regular season when the two sides go head-to-head tonight (TSN1, 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt).
The game kicks off a three-game road trip for the Whitecaps, who are riding a four-game undefeated streak - their longest since May to June of 2019.
The Whitecap will have Lucas Cavallini and Maxime Crépeau back in the lineup after their appearance at the Concacaf Gold Cup for the Canadian men’s national team. Cavallini tallied an assist in two starts and four appearances during the tournament. Crépeau started all five matches for Canada, denying a penalty kick against Mexico in the semifinal.
While new Designated Player Ryan Gauld joined the team earlier this week in Vancouver and took part in full training, there's no update yet on whether he will be available on Sunday. Michael Baldisimo is suspended due to yellow card accumulation and Brazilian midfielder Caio Alexandre is expected to be back in the lineup.
The 'Caps also acquired midfielder Pedro Vite and defender/midfielder Florian Jungwirth and loaned out Homegrown player Theo Bair this week.
Vite has been playing for Independiente del Valle in Ecuador where he had two goals and four assists in 14 appearances. He also helped the club's U20 team to a Copa Libertadores title last year. Jungwirth has spent four seasons in MLS and previously played in Germany with 1860 Munich, Dynamo Dresden, VfL Bochum and Darmstadt 98.
The Whitecaps and Galaxy split the first two meetings, each with a 2-1 final.
