ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Seattle Storm will make Raman its new head coach on a multi-year deal.

A 51-year-old native of Framingham, MA, Raman becomes the first WNBA head coach of Indian descent.

Raman spent last season as an assistant with the New York Liberty under Sandy Brondello, now the head coach of the Toronto Tempo. Prior to that, Raman spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies. She had previously spent over a decade as the head coach at MIT.

Raman succeeds Noelle Quinn whose contract was not renewed after five seasons with the team.

The Storm finished last season at 23-21 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces, in three games.
