Tempo host Wings for historic game in Montreal on TSN

Published:

With expansion adding three teams in the past two years, the WNBA has recently seen a lot of firsts. On Friday night, the league will land in Montreal for the first time as the Toronto Tempo take on the Dallas Wings on TSN.

Watch the Tempo take on the Wings from Montreal LIVE at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on TSN1/5 and streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

The Tempo will play two home games at the Bell Centre, including on Sunday against the New York Liberty.

This is the fourth Canadian city the WNBA will make a visit to after hosting a preseason game in Edmonton in 2024 and a regular-season game in Vancouver in 2025, with the Tempo also set to play two games in Vancouver at the end of August.

On the court, it’s been a tough go as of late for the Tempo.

Toronto has dropped three games in a row, including against the Wings on Sunday in an 89-76 loss.

The injury report also continues to grow with Brittney Sykes, Temi Fagbenle and Kiki Rice all out, while Nyara Sabally is a game-time decision after exiting Wednesday’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries with a knee injury.

Marina Mabrey, who was named a WNBA All-Star earlier this week, continues to carry the offensive load for the Tempo, especially with Sykes out with a foot injury.

Mabrey is averaging a career-high 20.6 points with 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

After missing the first 10 games of the season recovering from a thumb injury suffered in training camp, forward Isabelle Harrison has been a welcome addition to the lineup.

She put up a career-high 24 points on Wednesday and is averaging 13.5 points with 6.2 rebounds through 11 appearances this season.

It’s been the opposite for Dallas, who have won three straight games and have a clean injury report.

The Wings are coming off an 88-77 victory over the Liberty on Tuesday as Jessica Shepard recorded her third triple-double of the season with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
