Rams Emerge As Clear Super Bowl Favourite At FanDuel
It’s amazing to think back on the butterfly effect that one game can have on an entire NFL season.
A Week 16 clash between the Rams and Seattle Seahawks certainly had that type of impact.
LA led Seattle 30-14 early in the fourth quarter of that highly anticipated NFC showdown.
The Rams were 13:34 away from icing a victory and taking over first place in the NFC standings with two weeks remaining on their schedule.
Instead, the Seahawks rallied from down two scores to force overtime, then fought back from down a TD again to win the game on a two-point conversion in overtime.
Seattle went on to clinch first place in the NFC, a playoff bye, and home-field advantage for the eventual rematch in the NFC Championship Game.
LA led that game 13-10 late in the first half.
Once again, the Rams would ultimately fall just short.
The Seahawks would go on to win the Super Bowl.
Those two losses to Seattle became the pretext for everything LA did this offseason.
The standard for what it takes to win was set.
It was up to Les Snead and Sean McVay to figure out how to reach that next level, and they didn’t pull any punches this offseason overhauling the roster to get there.
The top priority was to upgrade a defence that ranked 27th in the NFL in completions inside the numbers and gave up 69 points in a pair of losses to the Seahawks.
The pre-draft trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for star cornerback Trent McDuffie was considered a blockbuster.
Nobody could have imagined LA following up that deal with a trade for two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in June.
Garrett is the first multi-time Defensive Player of the Year winner to be traded in NFL history.
The Rams already had a decent defensive core that featured Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Poona Ford, Quentin Lake, Emmanuel Forbes Jr., Kam Curl, and Kam Kinchens.
They upgraded that unit with the NFL’s most dominant pass rusher in Garrett and a 2023 first-team All-Pro cornerback in McDuffie, plus veteran corner Jaylen Watson.
Meanwhile, the surprise selection of QB Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick stole the spotlight at the NFL Draft, but LA added two more key offensive pieces with its next two picks.
Tight end Max Klare was a sneaky selection with the 61st overall pick for an offence that ran twice as many plays as any other team with three tight ends on the field.
Then with the 93rd pick, LA drafted tackle Keagan Trost, who could be ready contribute as a rookie after spending seven years in college.
Put all the pieces together and the picture is clear.
The 2026 Rams will roll out the reigning NFL regular season MVP in Stafford, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year in Garrett, the reigning NFL receptions leader in Puka Nacua, and the reigning NFL TD receptions leader in Davante Adams.
Stafford is the fifth choice to win MVP at +900.
Nacua is the fourth choice to win OPOY at +1300.
Garrett is the clear favourite to win DPOY at +400.
Remember, Garrett just set the NFL single-season record with 23 sacks on a Browns team that went 5-12 in 2025.
What kind of numbers is he capable of putting up for a legitimate Super Bowl contender?
At least on paper, LA has all the pieces to win it all.
An MVP-calibre QB, explosive talent at the skill positions, a physical, versatile run game, a solid offensive line, a potentially dominant front-seven anchored by Garrett, and a versatile secondary with corners and safeties that can travel.
Plus, LA upgraded a special teams-unit that hurt them more often than it helped them last season.
At least on paper, the Rams have no real weaknesses.
Yes, LA will face one of the league’s toughest schedules, playing in the league’s toughest division.
The Seahawks are the fourth choice to win it all at +1200.
The San Francisco 49ers are right behind them as the fifth choice to win the Super Bowl at +1500 at FanDuel.
A lot can change between now and February.
A lot needs to go right for every eventual champion.
However, the Rams have set the standard as the clear Super Bowl favourite at FanDuel entering training camps.
It shouldn’t surprise anybody that LA has been the most popular pick to win it all in Alberta.
Nobody is crowning the Super Bowl champion in July.
