The final event of the 2026 PGA Tour regular season has arrived, and wow, where did the time go?
As TSN’s Bob Weeks wrote about earlier this week, this is the last chance for golfers outside the top 70 on the FedEx Cup standings to make a move into the postseason.
Jackson Koivun, 21, has burst onto the scene and sits 70th entering the event with 557.629 points, thanks largely to the 500 he got for winning in his third start as a pro.
Koivun holds an 11.512-point lead over Mac Meissner in 71st and for context, a finish of 40th would net the young American another 16 points.
If Koivun adds just 16 points to his total this week, Meissner would need a finish of solo 30th or better to net the points needed to leapfrog him.
But Meissner is just one of three players who enter this week within 50 points of Koivun, meaning if you’re lower than 75th in the standings entering this week you probably need a really high finish to advance to the postseason.
Tony Finau, sitting at 89th with 411.902, is a good place to look for an example. Trailing 70th by 145.727 points, Fianu will need a finish of solo third this week (190 points) to have a chance at keeping his season alive, while a finish in solo fourth (135 points) wouldn’t be enough even if everyone in front of him misses the cut.
That means everyone else behind Fianu at 90th and below needs *at least* a top-three finish to have a chance at making the playoffs.
Billy Horschel appears to be the popular longshot the community is on this week. According to Golf Tips Checker on X, Horschel comes in this week with the fourth most tips at 100-1.
Sitting with 340.618 points, Billy Ho needs a solo second or a win this week to make the playoffs. I will join the community on Billy this week and have a 100-1 golfer of my own that has me all hot and bothered to get this final event of the season underway.
The golfer I’m betting to win the Wyndham Championship that you’re probably not
Zac Blair enters this week 117th in points with 265.490, a whopping 292.139 points behind Koivun in 70th.
A solo second finish, and the 300 points that come with it, might not be enough this week, so if ZB wants to make the playoffs, he likely needs to pick off his first career PGA Tour win. And wow, does this ever seem like the perfect course for him to do it.
While Blair hasn’t played enough rounds this year to be ranked in stats, here is where he would rank in some key driving stats on tour.
| Stat | Value | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Driving Distance | 284.5 | 157 |
| Driving Accuracy | 70.61 % | 5th |
| Club Head Speed | 109.40 | 158 |
This week, according to RickRunGood.com, Sedgefield Country Club ranks near the bottom in terms of importance for club head speed and driving distance.
With the winning score expecting to be in the high teens / low 20s a hot putter will be needed to win this week. Blair comes in having gained strokes putting in five of his last six starts, including two starts ago when he gained over 7 at the 3M Open.
As for his approach play, Blair has played 10 events this season on the PGA Tour with shot tracking and has gained on approch in all 10.
He also has a scambling percantage of 67.11 per cent, a number that would rank inside the top 5 among eligable players.
Most weeks Blair is losing multiple shots to the field off the tee, but he’s been a positive with the driver in five of his seven appearnaces in this event and if he does it again this week I think the rest of his game is in a good spot to give Sunday a run.
In 12 starts on the PGA Tour this year, Blair has been solid with three top 10s and making 10 cuts and has a solo second in one of his 7 Korn Ferry Tour appearances.
It’s a big longshot, and there’s probably not too many people on his this week, but let’s finish the season with a 100-1 banger.
Here’s the rest of my card
