The Montreal Alouettes have signed quarterback Davis Alexander to a one-year contract extension that will keep him in Montreal until 2028, it was announced Tuesday.

Alexander previously signed a three-year contract extension with the Als last December.

The 27-year-old pivot led Montreal to the Grey Cup in his first year as starter. He passed for 2,024 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to three interceptions in eight regular season games, also rushing for 110 yards and a touchdown.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Alouettes 25-17 in last month’s Grey Cup in Winnipeg.

“We’re thrilled that we were able to come to an agreement on an extension with Davis and his camp,” general manager Danny Maciocia said in a news release.

“We’re committed to him and he’s committed to this team, the city of Montreal and the province of Quebec. In his first year as our starting quarterback, Davis performed brilliantly. We’re excited to see where he’ll lead us over the next few years.”

Alexander has been with the Alouettes for four seasons after playing collegiately at Portland State.
