Winnipeg Blue Bombers star quarterback Zach Collaros left Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with an upper-body injury and didn’t return.
The injury occurred at the beginning of the second quarter after Collaros was sacked by Ticats linebacker Reggie Stubblefield.
Collaros threw for 41 yards with five completions and an interception when he left the game with his team trailing 7-3.
The 37-year-old pivot has 944 passing yards after three games this season with five touchdowns and two interceptions.
Rookie quarterback Taylor Elgersma entered the game in relief of Collaros, giving him his first taste of CFL action.
Collaros is in his sixth season in Winnipeg and helped the team to two Grey Cup titles and four Grey Cup appearances.
Signed by the Toronto Argonauts in 2012, Collaros has 36,927 passing yards with 221 touchdowns and 119 interceptions split between the Argonauts, Tiger-Cats, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Blue Bombers in his 14-season carer.
The Blue Bombers entered Sunday’s action with a 1-2 record, sitting in fourth in the West Division.
