The Saskatchewan Roughriders added some depth at wide receiver on Tuesday, signing the 2024 East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie Shemar Bridges.
The 28-year-old Bridges was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week and had not yet appeared in a game this season after beginning the year on the six-game injured list because of a hip injury. He had resumed practising with the team at the time of his release.
Bridges joined the Ticats in January of 2024 and tallied 83 catches for 933 yards receiving and four touchdowns en route to winning the East’s top rookie award as well as being named a CFL East Division All-Star.
Bridges wasn’t as productive in 2025, tallying 34 catches for 361 yards and two touchdowns in 18 games. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Bridges totaled 1,294 yards and six TDs in his two seasons with Hamilton.
Prior to his time in the CFL, Bridges signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent time on the team’s practice roster before returning to training camp with them in 2023.
In college, Bridges played three seasons at Fort Valley State University in Georgia from 2019 to 2021. He totaled 92 receptions for 1,358 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games.
