With World Curling announcing changes to the competitive structure for the next Olympic quadrennial, this year’s Pan Continental Curling Championships will be the last.
With the addition of the World Curling Championships B and C Divisions, World Curling announced on Tuesday that the Pan Continental Curling Championships will no longer take place.
Still, there’s work to be done as Canada will be represented by defending national champions in Team Rachel Homan of Ottawa and Team Brad Jacobs of Calgary.
The event takes place Oct. 20-26 from Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia, Minnesota.
As that host nation, Canada already has a spot secured for the 2026 World Women’s Curling Championship, set to run March 14-22 in Calgary.
Team Jacobs, who are making their Pan Continental debut, need a top-four finish to qualify Canada for the 2026 World Men’s Curling Championship, scheduled for March 27-April 4 in Ogden, Utah.
The format features an eight-team round-robin with the top four rinks qualifying for the playoffs.
Team Homan won last year’s Pan Continental Curling Championship in Lacombe, Alta., while Team Brad Gushue finished off the podium and winning gold in 2023.
This will be the fourth and final version of the Pan Continental Curling Championships.
