The Toronto Blue Jays placed right-hander Chris Bassitt on the 15-day injured list with lower-back inflammation, it was announced Saturday.

The move is retroactive to Friday.

Meanwhile, left-hander Mason Fluharty has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and will be active for Saturday’s game in Kansas City against the Royals.

According to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Toronto is keeping Jose Berrios and Eric Lauer in the bullpen for the time being and plan to use Monday’s off-day to keep everyone on regular rest.

Bassitt, 36, allowed three earned runs and 11 base runners in 4.1 innings two days ago in Tampa against the Rays, throwing 89 pitches. He has a 3.96 ERA on the season with a record of 11-9.

Toronto can clinch a postseason berth Saturday night with a win over the Royals. They will send right-hander Shane Bieber to the hill against Noah Cameron.
