Kazuma Okamoto has been removed from Tuesday’s starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox with a left knee contusion for the second straight day, the team announced prior to first pitch.
Okamoto was originally scheduled to play third base and bat seventh. Charles McAdoo will shift from left field to third base and Nathan Lukes will join the starting-nine.
Okamoto did not play in Monday’s series opener after fouling a ball off his knee in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also scheduled to play Monday before being removed from the lineup.
The 30-year-old is slashing .225/.299/.429 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI in his first MLB season.
Toronto enters play Tuesday six games below .500 at 57-63, three and a half games out of the final American League wild-card spot.
