After being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays, Eloy Jiménez has officially cleared waivers and elected to become a free agent on Saturday.

The 29-year-old first baseman and outfielder posted a slash line of .290/.343/.290 with three runs batted in across 12 games for the Blue Jays this season.
A former top prospect of the Chicago White Sox, Jimenez was initially recalled from the from Triple-A Buffalo when George Springer was placed on the Injured List on April 12.
He signed a minor-league deal with Toronto before the start of spring training.
