Toronto Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer made a rehab start with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Friday as he works his way back to the major league roster.
Scherzer threw 3.2 innings, surrendering three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk before he was removed from the game after 73 pitches.
The 41-year-old threw 44 strikes against the Worcester Red Sox, as he faced 17 hitters during his outing.
Scherzer has been on the injured list since late April with right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation.
The 41-year-old appeared in five games this season for the Blue Jays before he was placed on the 15-day IL and posted a 1-3 record with a 9.64 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 18.2 innings.
Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, is in his second season with the Blue Jays.
The eight-time All-Star posted a 5-5 record with a 5.19 ERA in 17 starts during his first campaign in Toronto.
