Blue Jays add McAdoo, Seabold to roster; Sosa (wrist) lands on IL

The Toronto Blue Jays made a flurry of roster moves Thursday, adding pitcher Connor Seabold and infielder Charles McAdoo to the major-league roster.

Right-hander Chase Lee was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo and infielder Lenyn Sosa was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist contusion as corresponding moves. Both Seabold and McAdoo will be active for Thursday’s series opener in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Pitcher Lazaro Estrada was also transferred to the 60-day injured list.

The Blue Jays acquired Seabold from the Detroit Tigers earlier this week in exchange for left-hander Juanmi Vasquez.

Manager John Schneider told reporters on Wednesday via Mitch Bannon of The Athletic that there would be a move made prior to Thursday’s game.

The 30-year-old Seabold owns a 3.45 earned-run average with the Tigers in 11 games this season. He also has 14 total strikeouts in 15.2 innings. Seabold was with the Jays in spring training after signing an off-season minor-league contract, but was cut before Opening Day.

The move to acquire Seabold comes with pitchers Dylan Cease, Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber, Joe Mantiply, Tommy Nance, Yimi Garcia, Jose Berrios, Cody Ponce and Bowden Francis all on the injured list.

Meanwhile, McAdoo has a slash line of .250/.357/.432 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games for Triple-A Buffalo this season.

The 24-year-old McAdoo is the No. 26 prospect in the Blue Jays’ system, per MLB Pipeline, and was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates for utilityman Isiah Kiner-Falefa at the 2024 trade deadline.

The Blue Jays (27-29) will begin a seven-game road trip Thursday night at Camden Yards.
