The Carolina Hurricanes continue to crawl back from an early deficit as they now trail the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 after the second period in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Eric Robinson scored the only goal of the second period as the Hurricanes try to overcome an early 4-1 deficit.

After scoring four in the opening frame, the Canadiens went scoreless in the second and recorded just three shots on Frederik Andersen.

Momentum swung in the Hurricanes direction at 2:43 of the period. Right after Cole Caufield rang a shot off the post, the Hurricanes went the other way and sent Robinson on a breakaway of his own where he beat Dobes for his first goal of the postseason.

The Hurricanes controlled much of the second following the goal and held a 7-1 shot advantage at the 12-minute mark of the frame. Carolina continued to mount pressure as the period continued, and hemmed the Canadiens in their own zone for over two minutes, but were unable to get one past Dobes in the sequence.

Cole Caufield, Phillip Danault, Alexandre Texier, and Ivan Demidov scored first-period goals for the Canadiens, while Seth Jarvis got on the board for the Hurricanes.
