Kirby Dach scored in the second period for the Montreal Canadiens, but markers from Dominic James and Jake Guentzel for the Tampa Bay Lightning have the teams tied 2-2 after the second period of Game 5.

The first-round series is currently tied 2-2.

Before the second-period scoring got underway, Lane Hutson took the Canadiens’ second puck over glass, delay of game penalty at the 1:13 mark.

After getting that kill, the Canadiens went down a man again as Arber Xhekaj went to the box for roughing at 4:17.

With the teams back to even strength, Dominic James broke in on a 2-on-1 and fired the puck home on the rush to get the Lightning on the board at 6:49 of the second frame.

The game was only tied for 11 seconds as Dach instantly replied with assists from Zachary Bolduc and Kaiden Guhle to restore the lead for the visitors.

Guentzel got things back on even terms as he took advantage of another 2-on-1 to get the Lightning back on the board at 17:23.

Brendan Gallagher opened the scoring for the Canadiens in the first period with his goal exactly three minutes into the game.

Gallagher is in the lineup for the first time this series after he was a healthy scratch for the first four contests.

Alex Newhook picked up the only assist on the marker in the opening period.
