Netminder Anthony Stolarz was scheduled to start against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday but was a late scratch after sustaining an injury in warmup.

Stolarz took a puck to the throat off a shot from forward William Nylander and left the ice soon after.

The team said that Stolarz was then taken to the hospital for precautionary imaging and Joseph Woll took the net in the Maple Leafs’ 5-2 loss to the Senators.

Head coach Craig Berube told reporters after the game that Stolarz is out of the hospital and went to meet the team at the plane headed back to Toronto. He had no other updates on his status.

The 6-foot-6 netminder was coming off a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild last Sunday, allowing two goals on 38 shots.

He has an 8-9-3 record this season with an .894 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against average.

Woll will make back-to-back starts in net after allowing four goals on 36 shots in the Maple Leafs’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

After the game Berbue criticized Woll for being unable to make a save when the team needed one.

“He played well, but, like, tonight, in the end, I know we need a save,” said Berube told reporters after Friday’s loss. “Whether it’s the OT or one of the breakaways, you know, you just need a big save there.”

Woll had a 14-12-6 record this season, entering Saturday’s action with a .905 save percentage and 3.11 GAA.

Rielly misses action

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly missed Saturday’s game against the Senators and is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Berube said Rielly aggravated something during an overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Friday in Toronto.

The 32-year-old Rielly has nine goals and 24 assists over 67 games in 2025-26, his 13th season in Toronto.

Rielly has 96 goals and 450 assists over 940 career games with the Maple Leafs after being selected fifth overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Rielly is in the fourth season of an eight-year, $60 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $7.5 million.
