The Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks are tied 3-3 and heading to overtime in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series on Sunday night.
Tied 2-2 in the third period, Evan Bouchard took the lead back for Edmonton early in the period on the power play as Connor McDavid found Bouchard, who beat Dostal clean with Mason McTavish in the box for hooking.
With six and a half minutes remaining in the third, Jeffrey Viel swiped at the puck as he was falling down and beat Jarry to make it a 3-3 contest.
Kasperi Kapanen opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the game. Hanging around the front of the net, the puck found its way to Kapanen, who spun around and shot the puck past Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal for the early 1-0 lead.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins doubled Edmonton’s lead six minutes later on the power play as his wrist shot from the circle beat Dostal. Bouchard and McDavid picked up the assists on the goal.
Cutter Gauthier got the Ducks on the board midway through the second period on the power play. With Oilers forward Josh Samanski in the box for tripping, Gauthier ripped a shot past Tristan Jarry from the circle to cut Edmonton’s lead in half 2-1.
With three minutes remaining in the second, Zach Hyman was whistled for kneeing. With Hyman in the box, Mikael Granlund skated in to beat Jarry on the power play to tie the game 2-2.
