The Minnesota Wild have been busy on trade deadline day.

After acquiring forward Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenceman David Jiricek, the Wild landed forward Nick Foligno from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations, pairing him with his brother, Marcus, in the Twin Cities.

The elder Foligno, 38, has three goals and 11 points in 37 games with the Blackhawks this season.

He missed 22 games earlier in the season due to a hand injury.

The 6-foot winger is on the final season of a two-year, $9 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4.5 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Because the Blackhawks did not have any salary retention slots left, the Wild will take on the entirety of what Foligno is owed.

The 24-year-old Brink has 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 55 games so far this season. Brink is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer and is making $1.5 million this season. He was in the midst of his fourth season with the Flyers after being selected in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Jiricek, 22, does not have a point in 25 games so far this season. He’s also appeared in 24 AHL games with the Iowa Wild, tallying two goals and eight assists.

Like Brink, Jiricek is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer and is making $918,000 this year.

He was selected No. 6 overall in the 2022 draft.

Later on Friday, the Wild sent forward Vinnie Hinostroza to the Florida Panthers in exchange for future considerations, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.

Hinostroza has three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 48 games so far this season.

Minnesota among the most active buyers

Prior to their three deals Friday, the Wild had already been among the most active teams ahead of the deadline, having now made a total of five trades since March 1.

The Wild acquired Roman Schmidt from the Flyers for Boris Katchouk on Sunday before adding Michael McCarron for a second-round pick from the Nashville Predators on Tuesday and then adding veteran blueliner Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers for a conditional seventh-rounder Thursday.

Minnesota swung what may stand as the biggest deal of the year in December, acquiring Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks in a blockbuster.

Flyers, Bruins swing deal

Later on Friday, the Flyers acquired forward Brett Harrison and defenceman Jackson Edward from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forwards Alexis Gendron and Massimo Rizzo.
