The Buffalo Sabres have acquired defenceman Olen Zellweger from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward prospect Anton Wahlberg and the 45th pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.

Zellweger, 22, recorded seven goals and 22 points in 76 games with the Anaheim Ducks last season while averaging 16:59 of ice time.

He added a goal and two points in three playoff games before the Ducks were eliminated in the second round while averaging 13:58 of ice time.

The 5-foot-10, left-shot blueliner is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract and is a pending restricted free agent.

Drafted 34th overall by the Ducks in 2021, Zellweger has 16 goals and 51 points in 164 career games.

The Calgary native represented Canada at the 2024 World Hockey Championship in a fourth-place finish. He also represented his country twice at the World Juniors, taking home gold in 2022 and 2023.

Wahlberg was selected by the Sabres in the second round of the 2023 draft and has yet to make his NHL debut. He posted nine goas and 38 points in 68 AHL games with the Rochester Americans this past season.

Wahlberg, 20, was drafted 39th overall by the Sabres in 2023.

The 6-foot-4 centre played last season with the AHL’s Rochester Americans, recording nine goals and 37 points in 68 games.

Wahlberg represented Sweden at the 2024 and 2025 World Juniors, taking home a silver medal in 2024.
