David Perron is going under the knife.

Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green revealed Thursday the veteran forward requires sports hernia surgery and will miss the next five to seven weeks.

Perron, 37, played in the team’s 4-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, registering 12:33 of ice time. He’s appeared in 49 games this season, his second with the Senators, recording 10 goals and 15 assists.

A native of Sherbrooke, Que., Perron is in his 19th NHL season after originally being taken with the 25th selection of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft out of the QMJHL’s Lewiston Maineiacs.

He’s appeared in 1,223 contests for the Sens, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers. He has 329 goals and 809 points. Perron won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019 and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career the following season.

The Senators visit the Nashville Predators later on Thursday.
