Co-hosts Mexico got he festivities started early at the FIFA World Cup 2026 when Julian Quinones scored the tournament’s first goal at the 10 minute mark of their opening game against South Africa.
The forward was gifted a glorious chance on goal after Erik Lira forced a bad turnover, giving the Al-Qadsiah man a clear shot on net that he did not miss.
The two teams are kicking off the tournament in Mexico City and will be followed by Czechia and South Korea later tonight.
