Miller, Vallerand lead rising Tides in NSL victory over winless Wild

CALGARY — The Halifax Tides scored three first-half goals in an 18-minute span and then coasted to a 4-0 Northern Super League victory over the winless Calgary Wild at McMahon Stadium on Sunday.

Saorla Miller and Julianne Vallerand each scored twice as the Tides improved to two wins, two losses and a draw. The Wild slipped to three losses and a draw.

Miller opened the scoring eight minutes in, then Vallerand made it 2-0 some 15 minutes later. Miller scored her second goal of the match in the 26th minute. Vallerand scored her second goal in the 79th minute.

The Tides controlled 59 per cent of ball possession and outshot the hosts 12-7 (9-3 on target).

Both teams had two corners and the Wild picked up the lone yellow card of the match.
