The Toronto Tempo have signed centre Kamila Borkowska to a development contract, it was announced Saturday afternoon.
As TSN’s Chelsea Leite notes, all players on expiring training camp standard or developmental deals at the end of the season are automatically eligible for qualifying offers in free agency this off-season.
Borkowska, a 6-foot-7 centre from Poland, signed a training camp contract with the Connecticut Sun last year but was waived before the start of the season. She has yet to appear in a WNBA regular-season game.
The 24-year-old has averaged 12.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game with the Polish national team in six games during the 2027 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers over the past two years.
Borkowska’s signing is the latest in a series of moves to bolster the Tempo’s depth as they wind down their inaugural season the victim of numerous injuries. On Friday, the team converted the contracts of guards Zaay Green and Ornella Bankole to regular player agreements pursuant to roster hardships. They were each on developmental contracts since joining the Tempo earlier this summer.
Toronto (11-30) has three games left in their inaugural season and will play their final home game of the campaign on Sunday against the New York Liberty.
