Expert Analysis from TSN’s Russ Howard

Team Kleiter will have a successful week at the Canadian Curling Trials if...

“They embrace the crowd early and miss the right way. Team Kleiter will have no pressure as one of most inexperienced groups in the field.”

Team Story

Team Rylan Kleiter competed in their first Montana’s Brier last year and now they’ll play in their first Canadian Curling Trials.

It was a breakout season for Kleiter and company in 2024-25, posting a 47-31 record with three bonspiel victories, highlighted by winning the Saskatchewan men’s curling championship.

At the Brier in Kelowna, the 27-year-old Kleiter led his side to a 3-5 record, but was on the outside looking in come playoff time.

As the sixth ranked team in Canada last season, Team Kleiter has had the opportunity to play bigger events this year.

Facing tougher competition, Kleiter’s rink has struggled to find wins in 2025-26, qualifying for the playoffs in just one of seven events.

Team Kleiter own a 3-13 record in three Grand Slams and the PointsBet Invitational during the fall portion of the schedule leading into the Trials. They’re 1-10 against Trials teams this season as well.

Matthew Hall throws second stones and holds the broom for the skip.

Team Kleiter will be one of the most inexperienced rinks in Halifax and will need to catch lightning in a bottle if they’re going to compete for a playoff spot.

It won’t be an easy start to for Team Kleiter either with games against world-class skips in Brad Gushue, Brad Jacobs and Matt Dunstone to open the tournament.
