Brittney Sykes is expected to return to the Toronto Tempo’s lineup Tuesday night as they take on the Indiana Fever, reports TSN’s Chelsea Leite.
Sykes is officially listed as probable and, according to Leite, will have a minutes restriction in her return. Skyes has been out since suffering a left plantar fascia injury against the Fever just over two months ago on June 16.
Watch the Tempo play the Fever at Scotiabank Arena LIVE at 7pm ET/4pm PT on TSN1, TSN.ca and the TSN App.
Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello said via Leite that she is telling Skykes to go “play with joy” and her presence will boost the team’s confidence.
“It’s been a testing eight weeks, but, you know, it taught me a lot about myself. I got to show up for my teammates and the org in a different way,” Sykes said on Monday.
“I’m just grateful that I got that time. I got a lot of therapy sessions in. I got to find out a lot about myself. In this point in my career, I’ve been here before, but it seems like this injury was way harder to deal with.”
The Tempo could use the boost. They’ve lost 10 games in a row and 14 of 15 and sit second-last in the Eastern Conference at 10-23.
Sykes is averaging 20.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 15 games this season prior to going down.
