The Golden State Valkyries placed guard Kate Martin on waivers on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Iowa product was in the midst of rehabbing a Grade 2 quad strain.

A native of Edwardsville, IL, Martin appeared in 42 games for the expansion team last season. She averaged 4.6 points on .319 shooting with 2.2 rebounds in 16.4 minutes a night. The Valkyries became the first expansion team to qualify for the playoffs in their inaugural campaign where they were swept in the first round by Minnesota Lynx.

Originally taken with the 18th overall selection of the 2024 WNBA Draft, Martin spent her first season with the Las Vegas Aces.

The Valkyries open up their second season on Friday night with a visit to the Seattle Storm.
