Paul Pierce will make this next season his last.

The 18-year veteran announced on The Players Tribune website Monday that the 2016-17 season will be his last.

"This is it, my final season," Pierce wrote on The Players Tribune. "It’s time to move on from the game of basketball. Just like any difficult decision, I think you’ve got to be at peace with yourself. I’m at peace with retiring, but I’ve got one more ride left. One more season. One more opportunity."

Pierce will be 39 this season and is in the second year of a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers worth a little more than $10 million.

The 10-time NBA All-Star has spent most of his career with the Boston Celtics, but also had stops late in his career with the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and now Clippers.

Pierce has averaged 20 points. 5.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game over the course of his career,
